As a type of air compressor, permanent magnet variable frequency air compressor occupies an important position in the compressor market. So what are the advantages and disadvantages of permanent magnet variable frequency air compressors?
Advantages of permanent magnet variable frequency air compressor:
1. Reduce impact and ensure reliable operation
The permanent magnet variable frequency air compressor starts smoothly, avoiding current peaks. After starting and running to the rated pressure, it operates with variable frequency and continuously tracks gas production through pressure detection. It outputs the amount of gas required by the user while maintaining the same pressure, which not only reduces energy consumption but also avoids the impact of star delta starting on the power grid and air compressor.
2. Constant voltage power saving
During operation, the pressure of a regular air compressor fluctuates within a range of 0.7 bar above and below the rated pressure. Compared to a variable frequency air compressor, the pressure can remain stable within a range of 0.1 bar above and below the rated pressure. During normal operation, it can save 8.4% of electricity consumption (7% more electricity consumption for every 1 bar increase in operating pressure). Especially during unloading operation, variable frequency air compressors save up to 45% of electricity consumption compared to regular air compressors. At the same time, it has improved the quality of gas supply, enhanced the reliability and lifespan of air compressors and gas consuming equipment.
3. Strong voltage adaptability of AC power supply
Due to the overmodulation technology used in the frequency converter, sufficient torque can still be output to drive the motor when the AC power supply is slightly low; When the voltage is slightly higher, it will not cause the output motor voltage to be too high.
4. Low noise
Most operating conditions of the variable frequency system are below the rated speed, resulting in reduced mechanical noise and wear of the main engine, which extends maintenance and service life;
Disadvantages of permanent magnet variable frequency air compressor:
1. Motor temperature is too high
2. Demagnetization risk
The motor used in the permanent magnet variable frequency air compressor is a permanent magnet motor, and the weakness of this type of motor is the fear of demagnetization. The magnetic steel determines demagnetization, and the motor is prone to demagnetization when it is in a high temperature state for a long time.
3. High failure rate
Due to the direct installation of the rotor of the integrated permanent magnet variable frequency air compressor on the screw rotor, the bearing on the rotor side of the screw motor has to bear a load that is more than twice as much as before, so the bearing and oil seal on the motor side have a reduced lifespan of more than twice as much as before.
4. Maintenance and upkeep are relatively troublesome
Because the rotor of a permanent magnet motor is a permanent magnet, it is necessary to disassemble the motor before disassembling the machine head during maintenance. However, permanent magnet rotors have strong attraction and require professional operation to remove them, otherwise accidents may occur.
